How did you find out about NukuDo and how did you know the program was the right career step for you?
I was just starting to apply to cybersecurity positions when I got a recommendation from a job search site to apply for this company. When I read the description, I knew it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Every other company required varying ranges of experience, even for “Entry” level positions. Nukudo was offering paid hands-on training with placement upon completion of the training and the best part was NO experience required. Once I took the assessments, I realized that “No experience” did not mean easy. I enjoyed the challenge and was excited for what I would experience if I got accepted to the program. I knew that this program could give me the edge I needed to succeed in this field.
What motivated you to make the leap into the cybersecurity industry?
I worked in the same industry for many years, the opportunities were shrinking and it stopped presenting a challenge for me. I have family in the cybersecurity field, and they enjoy the constant challenge and stimulation. They encouraged me to give it a look and once I did, I knew this was something that I would enjoy doing.
What has been the best memory you have made so far in the program?

Remembering my name. I learned so many things in such a short period of time that I forgot my name for a minute. Seriously though, my best memories were made during the midterm and summary exercises. I enjoyed working with both teams, learning from our mistakes and celebrating our wins.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far in the program?
My biggest challenge was learning how to ask the right questions. I really didn't know what I didn’t know. It took a bit of time to stop looking for the right answers and start formulating the right questions. Google is your best friend, but it is not able to give you a good answer if you don’t even know what you are looking for.
What are your cybersecurity career goals?
My ultimate goal is to grow my knowledge and skill base, regardless of where my career path leads me. Whether I work with a team or work individually, I want to be a valuable asset and contribute in a meaningful way.
What advice would you give to future trainees?
The program is challenging and there will come a point where you may become discouraged. My advice is to not let yourself be discouraged for too long. Keep pushing forward. You will learn and you will succeed.
